Santa Cottage Renovation by F. Donald Myers Education

On October 14 students at the F. Donald Myers Education Center in Saratoga Springs received an early Christmas present. Staff from the City of Saratoga Springs Department of Public Works in conjunction with the Saratoga Downtown Business Association delivered the Santa Cottage. Career and Technical Education (CTE) students will give the cottage an upgrade, while engaging in hands-on learning.

Construction Trades program Instructor Ian Hamilton said, “right now students are making an assessment of the work to be done. They will replace missing shingles on the roof, tightened it up for the winter by chalking the joints and seams, replace missing trim and spruce it up with new paint.”

There is quite a bit of work to be done before it gets delivered by DPW on November 17th to the Downtown location on Broadway for children to enjoy when they visit Santa during the Christmas season. The students say they are up for the challenge.
